People believe you. Then they try to buy from you

A brand promise that the front line cannot repeat is not a promise. It is a liability with good production values.

People believe you. Then they try to buy from you. Same gap. Different till.

The belief is real. 87% of UAE consumers say they trust the brands they use, and trust now ranks alongside price and quality as a top purchase driver. (Source: Edelman Trust Barometer, Special Report: Brand Trust, UAE Edition, 2025.) In the same research, brands people use are trusted more than government, more than their own employer and more than the media. Few markets in the world give brands that much credit up front.

Then the customer tries to act on it. The product is out of stock in the app. The promotion on the billboard is not honoured in store. The call centre reads a script that contradicts the advert. The salesperson has never seen the campaign. The belief was built in one department and broken in another, and the customer experiences both as the same brand.

This is the same gap we see inside organisations, moved to the till. Marketing makes a promise. Operations, retail and service teams are left to keep it, often without being told what it was. A brand promise that the front line cannot repeat is not a promise. It is a liability with good production values.

The research suggests the tolerance for that gap is shrinking. Edelman found that 53% of UAE respondents assume a brand that stays silent is either doing nothing or hiding something, and 72% say brands that authentically reflect today’s culture build more trust than those that ignore it. Across Saudi Arabia and the UAE, Deloitte found 56% of consumers believe companies often overstate their environmental credentials. People are extending trust and checking it at the same time.

They are also checking it faster. 70% of UAE consumers now use generative AI platforms, and 95% of those already use it for shopping in some way: researching brands, comparing products, summarising reviews. Every broken promise is now searchable, summarised and served back to the next buyer before they reach the shelf.

Trust also has to survive value pressure. PwC’s Voice of the Consumer 2025 found 44% of Middle East consumers cite price as a top consideration in choosing food, with 34% naming brand trust, and 43% had used a discount retailer in the past year. When money is tight, trust is the reason someone pays a little more for you. Break it once at the till and price becomes the only reason left.

Closing this gap is rarely a media problem. It is an alignment problem: the promise, the people who deliver it and the moment of purchase pulling in the same direction. We map where the customer’s belief meets the business’s operations, find the points where it breaks, and make sure the people standing at those points know what was promised and why it matters.

A customer who believes you has already done the hardest part. The job is not to persuade them again. It is to stop disappointing them at the exact moment they decide to act.
