The Point
Every idea worth building begins as one small point: an observation, a question, a belief someone is willing to test. The Point is where we put ours. Notes from our work in culture, brand systems and go-to-market, each one a place to start.
- Are people your biggest asset, or a number on the balance sheet? (Culture & Alignment): Nothing moves until someone believes it first. Only 27% of UAE employees are engaged at work, and Saudi Arabia sits at 26%. The gap between what companies say about people and how they treat them has never been wider.
- People believe you. Then they try to buy from you (Go-to-Market): 87% of UAE consumers say they trust the brands they use. Trust now ranks alongside price and quality as a top purchase driver. So why does so much of that belief leak away at the point of sale?
- Every epic starts with a dot (Epicworld): After ten years working across B2B, B2C and government in the region, Epicworld is entering a new phase. The orange point in our new logo sits before the name because that is where we work: at the start.
- Clients buy people, not holding companies (Culture & Alignment): Holding companies sell scale. Independent advisories sell the actual people doing the work, brought together fractionally, on merit, for the brief in front of them. That difference is now a business advantage.
- In the age of AI, HI matters more, not less (Culture & Alignment): Every agency uses the same tools now. The differentiator was never the tool. It was always the human intelligence behind it.
- Purpose did not die. It got personal (Culture & Alignment): The old case for purpose, save the world and profit will follow, no longer holds up against the latest research. People still want purpose. They just do not want it from a manifesto anymore.
- Ghost pitches are draining agencies dry (Culture & Alignment): A brief, a four-week promise, and eight months later, silence. Ghost pitching is not an occasional bad experience. It is a structural abuse of agencies that the industry keeps tolerating.
- Ramadan campaigns are the laziest idea in Gulf marketing (Go-to-Market): Every brand runs the same Ramadan ad with a lantern and a family table. The occasion got smaller while the budgets got bigger.
- Why conglomerates hoard brands they should let go of (Brand & Identity): A crowded brand portfolio is rarely a strategy problem at the surface. It is usually a decision nobody has found the moment to make.
- Healthcare marketing still condescends to patients (Go-to-Market): Pharma and wellness brands over-medicalise their language to sound credible, then wonder why nobody trusts them.
- Why most alignment programmes stall before they start (Culture & Alignment): Org charts say one thing. Influence in the room says another. Most culture programmes measure the printed structure and miss the real one.
- The shopper journey stopped being a journey (Go-to-Market): People are no longer in one conversation. They are in a million at once, trusting strangers over adverts, and the conventional path to purchase no longer holds.
- Stop treating the GCC as one market (Go-to-Market): Saudi Arabia's population skews under 30. The UAE is majority expatriate. Treating both with the same campaign is how good brands underperform in a market next door.
- Your internal comms ignore the majority of your workforce (Culture & Alignment): Roughly nine in ten residents of the UAE are expatriates, most of them South Asian. Most internal communication in the region is still written for the other one in ten.
- AI cannot be your differentiator (Culture & Alignment): AI gives us efficiency, not creativity, unless we accept mediocrity. A tool everyone can rent cannot set an agency apart. It cannot produce an idea, make a design decision or fix a culture.
